THE WOODBENDER

Book 1 of War of the Nephilim

Back Cover Summary

What would you do if evil men came out of the dark to take the one you love?

In a time gone by, the Earth grew green, lush, and was full of violence. People competed with other people, dangerous animals, and wild dinosaurs to survive. But not Kenan Blacktree. He survived just fine as a peaceful woodbender out on the canopy edge of the great trees of Edeer.

Until the White Spiders attacked. They came for slaves and found many, including Anna. Recently betrothed to Kenan, she finds herself in the fight of her life.

Will the young people of this backwater village be able to stop the White Spiders and rescue those who were kidnapped? Will Kenan understand the reality of God Almighty? And will God help Kenan overcome overwhelming odds in battle?

There are three kinds of dinosaurs: those that eat plants, those that eat meat, and those that men ride to war!

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

Tripp likes the book, but he's not the only one.

An Excellent Book

“This is an excellent book and HIGHLY recommended to any fantasy and SCI-FI fan. This is just a great adventure story and will leave you wanting more.” Chip, Amazon Customer

The Book Is Phenomenal

“The Woodbender far exceeded my expectations. The book is phenomenal and very difficult to put down. Plot twists throughout, exciting moments, heart wrenching moments, plenty of action, and lots of comical scenes too. It really is one of the best books I’ve read in a while.” Kendall, Amazon Customer

Game of Thrones meets Apocalypto

“The best way to describe this book is Game of Thrones meets Apocalypto. It's a world where humans and dinosaurs co-exist, the children of angels rule over the world, and Adam and Eve are not-so-distant relatives. There is plenty of action and the story is fast-paced, making the book hard to put down.” Travis, Amazon Customer

A Tale of Faith and Struggle. God Is Good

"Ok I'm a sucker for any fiction that includes dinosaurs and that's what initially drew me into reading this book, but I stuck around for the engaging characters and wonderful world that Tripp Berry has crafted.

"The Woodbender is a great tale of lost and found faith, of the struggle with making sense of evil in the world, and that even though life is hard, God is good.

"I appreciate Tripp not shying away from how the world was turning evil prior to the flood, and how there are no quick fixes or easy outs.

"An easy recommendation for anyone looking for a great adventure." Stuart, Amazon Customer

TRIVIA

More than you wanted to know.

  • The majority of this book was written up to camp, which is on the northern shores of Moosehead Lake, Maine. Power is solar. The place has no running water. Literally, there's a poop bucket up in the woods.

  • In the first draft, Kenan was going to be a coward trying to find his courage. Then he was going to have an anger management problem. Tripp wrote big chunks of the book this way and had to correct it after. Remember, this was his first fiction novel.

  • Tripp has an over-active imagination. Scenes with vivid description were not amped up, but cut back in editing, to spare you from lots of violent cringe. Yikes.

  • I have several Lidai's in my life, whom I love and respect deeply. Strong women are not to be subdued. What should you do with one? Marry her, if you can, and team up. The world will quake at what God does with you.
