FICTION by TRIPP BERRY
What's Tripp's Fiction Like?
If you like a good action movie with realistic combat, you're going to love fiction by Tripp. He's been practicing martial arts for decades, including Kempo, Jiujitsu, BJJ, and Filipino Escrima. Plus, he's been around firearms and has hunted and fished since childhood. But action isn't only about fighting. Whether a character is jumping headfirst over a fence, falling down a flight of stairs, or their fingers slip on the bowstring, and they accidently punch themselves in the face (Tripp has done all of these), it's described in fast-moving detail that brings you there, into the action! Warning: sometimes it's gritty.
Action Packed
Well Grounded
"Lord help us. We're in the hands of engineers." Tripp earned his degree in engineering at the University of Maine. As an engineer, he values the real more than the fantastical. Fairies and centours are fun and all, but he'd rather spend time with things that are or could be found right here on God's green creation. So, no orcs, elves, or nasty little hobbitses. Instead, Tripp uses real history as recorded in the bible to develop a world that used to be, even if he had to invent some of the details. Besides, every story is better with a dinosaur.
Christian Themed
God is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. That means nothing under the sun has more importance than the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Period. Click here to learn more. Within the bible, of course, much more is offered than stories of Jesus. You'll find lessons on, just to name a few: selflessness, forgiveness, hope, justice, God's sovereignty, trust, learning, and love. Love most of all. And these are the themes of Tripp's books. Writing about progression towards God, not away, is a book worth writing. So enjoy, knowing that's what you're reading.
WAR OF THE NEPHILIM
The Nephiwhat?
Action Adventure before the Flood
The bible says a big flood wiped life off the land in the days of Noah. So, what would it have looked like before that? This series is set there, in the created world.

The War of the Nephilim series follows Kenan and his friends as they battle against the White Spiders, dragons (today called dinosaurs), and a world gone fully corrupt. Meet Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah decades before the flood hits. Crane your neck to see the tops of the great trees of Edeer. Sail around the oceans covering only a third of the earth. Fly above the hills of Ulneer on the back of a glidedragon. And, whatever you do, stay away from those mawdragons.

There are three kinds of dragons: those that eat plants, those that eat meat, and those men ride into war!
About the Books
This series is planned for eight books and is written to feel like a science fantasy. It might be called low fantasy with some spiritual magic powers.

These books are sometimes gritty. There is no on-page sex or modern foul language. There are, however, depictions of significant violence. Biblical violence, it could be called. Some scenes are intense. Recommended for people (if you're not a person, then pspspsps) 13 years old and up, though parents should use caution and judgement for their own children. If these were movies, they're PG-13, similar in cringe to Marvel, Star Wars, and James Bond.

Trigger warning: the bad guys engage in slavery and don't exactly treat women well.

Blurb: 15 yo Kinsley Cooper loved to run. Track. Marathons. Fun. She'd win more if she could show a little self-control, but meh. Then she got a call from her mom she'll never forget. Four miles to get there? She could run that before the taxi showed up. But so many things got in her way: strict police, stray dogs, jonesing junkies, and a professional reporter! Worst of all, she witnessed a murder. Now the Hammerhead Gang is after her. Can she outrun her pursuers? Will she reach her finish line in time? And will a little self-control, a fruit of the Spirit of God, be enough to win the day?

In the not-too-distant future, a dystopian world government keeps tabs on their citizens. But in a rural Maine homestead far off the beaten path, eleven-year-old Parker Stevenson just wants to finish hoeing his mother's potatoes and watch the drones passing in the sky. He knows them all. Delivery drones. Scouts. Cruisers. Sliders. Drones are awesome.

Until one doesn't pass. It circles the house and looks in through the living room window. A bright light illuminates the inside of their home.
ARE TRIPP'S BOOKS TOO GRITTY?
Maybe. Check out the Following Guide.
Sensuality
2/5. Not romance, though there is romance in it. Kissing. Hugging. More is implied but never described. Actual sex is never on page.
Foul Language
2/5. In WotN and other fantasy-like series, cursing is done with other words, such as dragonscrape, silt, and firespark, though they're used like swears. In books set in more modern times, expect mild 'd' swears, such as drat, dang, and doggone. Modern four-letter bombs are never used.

Violence
4/5. Few details were spared when it comes to action, warfare, and straight-up medieval combat. There are even a few scenes of torture when required. However, the truly sharp edges were knocked off to spare moderately sensitive readers. Some books are worse than others. Check out book descriptions on this website.
Intensity
4/5. Expect danger. Threats. Action and lots of it. A boy runs from a street thug with a cudgel. An old man holds the stairs against armored men bent on killing him. A woman fights against a looming rapist. Again, the hard edges are knocked off. You won't see the woman raped, just the threat of it. Sensitive readers should be careful.

Comparison
Tripp's books are often similar to movies such as Marvel, Star Wars, Jurrasic Park, and 007 in rating. Braveheart is also close. Think PG-13, though maybe R for violence in some books, unless noted otherwise. As for comparable book styles, Brandon Sanderson is softer but Joe Abercrombie is way harder. The Night Angel series by Brent Weeks is closer but still harder. The bible, the good book itself, is close. In the Noblebright to Grimdark spectrum, call Tripp's books Nobledark, give or take.
Young Adult
Tripp's Young Adult books are not yet released. When they are, expect them to be PG to PG-13, with a lower violence and intensity rating.
