DEER ON THE POWER LINES

I spent an afternoon not long ago clearing trail. I have an ATV and a trail that leads across the nearby powerlines and up onto an oak ridge I own. I like to hunt up there. I do not like to trudge out there from home. It'd take too long when I have a short time to hunt or if I'm going out for a dawn sit. Plus, I'm lazy like that. I love to hike when I want to hike. I like to ride when I don't.
Anyway, the trail grows in. Trails do that. Every few years, I need to go up with a saw and some loppers and clear the path out. I did that the other day.
Yeah, anyway, I got the job done. On the way back, I detoured around for a ride on the power lines. I found these future steaks. I stopped for a look-see.
The doe is to the right. The two yearlings hung around directly in the trail. Keep in mind that I was off in la-la land--being tired from clearing trail--and drove the ATV right up to them. I stopped, turned it off, and sat still. They hung out for me.
Hunting starts in November. I could crossbow hunt now, but I failed to practice and tune it in, which crossbows need from time to time. We spent too much of our summer on the road. So, maybe next year.
No, I doubt I'll shoot any of these. I've never shot a yearling. The doe is probably safe, too. I'm looking for daddy Bambi. If you're offended, please accept my apology and then don't read any more of my blog posts. I will post hunting stories from time to time. Probably rarely, actually. I'm not a very successful hunter.
